PAT 15/ Social Exclusion

Once we heard about Shipley's involvement in the research we were enthusiastic about being involved. We carried out surveys with people who used the community centre at Windhill, and the workers themselves filled out questionnaires.

The greatest involvement was through the ICT Awareness Day which involved quite a lot of planning between several members of the Shipley Communities Online project and staff from Shipley College. The working together aspect was a real positive to come out of the Day. We realised that Days like that were well worth running because of how people came along, got involved and learned new skills and (hopefully) went away and spread the word. Skill sharing went on throughout the day and the quality of what people did was tremendous.

Contributing in some way to the report was valuable and we hope some of the key findings can be acted upon for the benefit of people like those living in Shipley East.
